Monday, 24 May 2021 – Massive vaccination programmes have started in several cities

Good evening from Tokyo under the third time state of emergency.
Day 30.

It’s been a month since the third state of emergency was declared in Tokyo. The number of new infections in Tokyo has decreased. However, a very horrible variant virus from India has started to spread. In Osaka and Kobe, where medical collapses have occurred, the number of new infections has also decreased. The situation in Hokkaido and Okinawa is still very serious.

Today, massive vaccination programmes have started in several cities. Two of these, in Tokyo and Osaka, are organised by the Self-Defense Forces. The number of people vaccinated by the Self-Defense Forces today was 7,500.

The current situation in Japan regarding the Corona disaster and the Olympics was reported by BBC today. I think this is a good and accurate article as a foreign media which was outrageously bashing Japan about the Diamond Princess a year ago.

I went for a walk in the early evening today, to check the hydrangeas in my neighbourhood. The flowers have just started to bloom. The pale colours are beautiful.

Good night. Have a nice dream.

Wear a mask and wash your hands.
Stay safe and healthy πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜·πŸ––πŸ––πŸ––πŸ––πŸ––

Postscript on 25 May.
Yesterday I wrote that the number of people vaccinated by the Self-Defense Forces in Tokyo and Osaka totaled 7,500.
More detailed data was released today by the Ministry of Defense about the number of people who were vaccinated yesterday by the Self-Defense Forces’ arrangements. Tokyo 4876 shots, Osaka 2472 shots. Next week, vaccination will be expanded more, and the Defense Ministry plans to vaccinate a maximum of about 15,000 people a day at its 2 vaccination centres in Tokyo and Osaka in total.
