Thursday, 6 May 2021 – A column in the Washington Post

Good evening from Tokyo under the third time state of emergency.
Day 12.

A column in the Washington Post says the Olympics should be cancelled. Today, this column has created a huge sensation in Japan. Of course, many people agreed with this. It criticised Thomas Bach and the IOC with swords of excellent phrases such as ‘the line Baron Von Ripper-off and the other gold-plated pretenders at the International Olympic Committee’ or ‘Von Ripper-off, a.k.a. IOC President Thomas Bach’. Columnist Sally Jenkins has spoken for the anger of the people in Japan.

It is expected that the current state of emergency declared in Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo and Kyoto will be extended until 31 May. In addition to these prefectures, Aichi and Fukuoka, where cases are rising rapidly, will be joined. The official decision by the Government will be taken tomorrow. Tight restrictions on large shopping centres, cultural facilities and events, which are currently issued by the Government as ‘requests’ (not orders, but almost orders), are expected to be relaxed.

Due to the situation in Japan, the 22nd Beppu Argerich Festival in Kyushu has been cancelled. Martha Argerich and Mischa Maisky, who were scheduled to give a chamber music concert in Tokyo a week later on 14 May, had to cancel their trip to Japan just before their departure.

Today’s photos are Iris germanica. They bloomed and fell quietly in a small park in my neighbourhood. The colours are really beautiful and fresh. It is suitable for the pleasant air feeling of this season.

Have a nice dream. Good night.

Wear a mask and wash your hands.
Stay safe and healthy πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜·πŸ––πŸ––πŸ––πŸ––πŸ––
