Good evening from Tokyo under the fourth time state of emergency.
From today, the Takefu International Music Festival has started in Fukui Prefecture, located in the Hokuriku region facing the Sea of Japan. World renowned composer Toshio Hosokawa is the musical director of this festival. The concerts will go on there until the next Sunday. It’s a unique festival with music composition masterclasses and young musicians’ concerts. This year the festival had planned to invite the great composer, oboist, conductor and especially the great Schumann performer, Heinz Holliger. However, Maestro Holliger also had to cancel his visit to Japan due to the Corona pandemic.
This year’s theme of this festival is ‘Schumann + (Plus)’. The concert producer is the famous pianist as well as a Schumann specialist, Kei Itoh.
Three of the concerts will be streamed on YouTube for free. And also you can watch the live streaming archives for one week for free. Today’s Opening Concert is already available as an archive.
I didn’t make any information about it in English. I’ve put a short information in Japanese on one of my blogs.
The dates are in Japan time.
A few days ago, I wrote here that my next concert I’ll listen to would be a recital of the great French pianist Jean-Claude Pennetier. He was scheduled to give a recital after 14 days of quarantine in Japan. Unfortunately, he had to cancel his visit to Japan due to illness.
Today I post some photos of the roses from May.
(I shot these on 10 June 2021)
Good night. Have a nice dream!
Wear a mask and wash your hands.
Stay safe and healthy 😊😷🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖
