Friday, 14 May 2021 – It’s been 1 year since I started writing this English diary
Good evening from Tokyo under the third time state of emergency.
Day 20.
There were days that I wrote only weather. Some days I just wrote 1 or 2 lines and posted the photos of the ordinary morning sky (the same sky from my study’s window). Today, it’s been 1 year since I started writing this English diary here on Instagram. I decided to make this as a diary every day, even if it’s just one line, and that was my goal. At first, these were my morning posts. After the posts piled up, I put them to my new diary blog.

I don’t even write my Japanese blog every day. I have never continued to write any diary every day. I wanted to keep recording my days and concerts in the Corona disaster. When I started this diary on 14 May last year, Tokyo was under the first state of emergency. At that time, I had never thought that these days would continue for a year, although intermittently. Today, Tokyo is still under the third state of emergency. And I still haven’t received my vaccinations. Nothing has changed. On the contrary, things are getting worse.
Today, the Government decided to declare the state of emergency for 3 more prefectures. They are Hokkaido, Okayama and Hiroshima. The period is from 16 May to 31 May. The spread of the infection in Hokkaido is the next serious situation after Osaka and Kobe, which are in the midst of a medical collapse. And there are many other prefectures where the variant virus is spreading rapidly. As I see it, currently, the people in Japan want the following 4 things: Give us the vaccine! Give us the second benefit! Cancel the Olympics! Get out of the Government, incompetent PM Suga!
Today’s photos are from the park. Today I saw a small rose garden, different from one which I visited a few days ago. The hydrangeas were still in their buds. The Hakone-utsugi (Weigela coraeensis) was in full bloom. The puddle of water was beautiful. I didn’t edit the photos yet. Here are some photos I took quickly using my compact digital camera.
Have a great weekend!
Wear a mask and wash your hands.
Stay safe and healthy ππ·πππππ
