Sunday, 19 September 2021 – Watching that sky, I listened to the new Schumann albums
Good evening from Tokyo under the fourth time state of emergency.
Day 70.
In Japan it’s the autumn holiday season, called the Silver Week. From this weekend to the following week including two national holidays, many people are enjoying their holidays. The government and local authorities are asking people to stay home and avoid moving across prefectural boundaries, but many people are ignoring them. Anyone who wants to go out will go anywhere. I read some reports on Twitter that the busy streets were very crowded.
The number of new infections in Tokyo has decreased a large amount recently, but the number of new cases is still increasing more than 500 per day. The number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19 has exceeded 65% of the population. This is a good situation, but it should have been achieved before the Olympics.
Early this morning, the clouds drew a dramatic picture in the sky. Gradually the sky cleared up to a beautiful, glassy, 100% pure blue sky. Watching that sky, I listened to the new Schumann albums on Spotify. Tomorrow, Monday, is a national holiday called Respect-for-the-Aged Day. Also tomorrow, I’ll continue to listen to Schumann.
I post here the leaves of the gingko trees. They are beginning to turn a little yellow, but still green. As autumn deepens, they’ll turn a beautiful yellow.
