Thursday, 26 August 2021 – The cherry blossoms in the Imperial Palace garden
Good evening from Tokyo under the fourth time state of emergency.
Day 46.
As forecasted, today was an enormously hot day. In the Kanto area, including Tokyo, temperatures were almost like body temperature. Warnings were issued to stay indoors, because it was too hot and going out was life threatening. It was really too hot to do anything during the whole day even with air conditioner. The forecast for tomorrow is for a tremendously hot day again because of the heatwave.
I post a video here. This is from memories of the world before the Corona Pandemic. I salvaged this video from my 2019’s folder. These flowers are the cherry blossoms in the Imperial Palace garden where the Japanese emperor lives. It was just before the abdication of the Emperor Emeritus.
The flowers in this video are Tsubaki-kanzakura cherry blossoms.
I filmed it on 9 March 2019 in Kokyo-Higashi-Gyoen (the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace).
(I wrote that the Emperor lives here, actually, the current Emperor has not lived here yet. He and his family will move from the residence for the Crown Prince to this Imperial Palace next month. In modern Japan, the Emperor’s palace is a place for ceremonies and state events, not a place to live.)
Good night. Have a nice dream.
Wear a mask and wash your hands.
Stay safe and healthy 😊😷🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖
